I’m looking at living in the Costa Blanca area and need to check out a few different places before I move. I’ve decided that an inspection trip is a waste of time as I need to look at the area rather than at properties. Has anyone heard of a company that specialises in ‘area inspection trips’? Someone that knows the schools, transport, restaurants, accomodation etc and can show me where to look rather than me going out there for a couple of days not knowing where to start!
many thanks

sorry cant help with where your moving to, but we have bought 2 apartments in the past on the costa del sol and are now looking for a house to live in. We have also used a lady we found on the internet who finds propertys for you to look at, she takes care of everything for you like solicitors, ie numbers, electric, telephones etc. She dosent charge you anything as her money comes from a percentage of the estate agents who are selling the property. We found her on the internet so maybe you could find someone in the area you want to move to.

Sorry, but I think you have got it the wrong way around!

It would save a lot of time if you could shortlist the properties you would be interested in, and then investigate the areas they are in before planning an inspection trip.

You would waste a lot of time and money if you found a suitable area, only to discover no suitable properties when you visit.

Have a look at http://www.kyero.com to see what’s available.

If you go for an organised ‘Inspection Trip’ you might end up being shown only what the organiser wants you to see, so IMHO it’s better to sort it out yourself and treat it as a holiday.

Regards,
Alan.

Very good call Trogg/Alan! I couldn’t agree more.

Spain is the #2 tourist destination in the world for a reason. Try to find a month to come down, rent a car, talk to people, enjoy the beach and scout out some areas. If you travel in April/May or Oct/Nov the weather is still great but you’ll get low season prices.

Hello
We actually did both.

We had an inspection trip which was arranged at “a place in the sun” exhibition with Livingstone Estates.
Much to our surprise we found them very informative and helpful.
We were shown the area and given advice on different towns in the area.
There was some pressure to commit to buying, but we managed to resist.

Then, having learnt a lot and started to home in on an area we arranged 2 trips ourselves with cheap winter flights and got agents from the net to show us properties that we had seen on the net of interest to us.

This narrowed down our search even more as to area, and we learnt about things which were not what we wanted in a permanent residence.
The agent we eventually used to buy from was from Valencia Choice.
He was so helpful and friendly it seemed like much less hard work.
It is a big step you need to devote a lot of time and energy to your search, so that hopefully you don’t have to move again too soon, having made the wrong choice. Don’t forget the 10% costs on top of the purchase price.
