I am a U.S. citizen and married to a Spanish woman.  I don’t live in Spain, nor do I ever plan on living in Spain, but I do want to be able to work in other EU countries.  My question is this:  Can I get a Spanish passport solely by virtue of being married to a Spanish woman, or is there a residency requirement that I must meet first?  Thanks for any input.

You will have residency rights that may lead you to nationality to get the spanish passport, but arrived that time, you would have to choose between your US and/or Spanish nationality.

Or just not tell either country about the other one 😉...
