Help? Setting/changing e-mail account with telefonica!

Hello, Newbie here, finally arrived in Spain. Golly it’s hot! Great! Anyway, can anybody help please.
We are with “Telefonica” phone line and ADSL no problem so far.

I would like to (A) add or (B) change my e-mail account with them. still staying with “Telefonica” but rather than have my address as a my .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) I would like something more private!
We have been to the website to change it but as it is in Spanish and I am afraid ours is not up to speed yet (we are trying) we would welcome any advise or perhaps point us in the right direction?

Than you for taking the time to read this.  Mike T

Hey Mike,

Off hand I’ve no idea, although I did recently get Telefonica myself. Most people get email accounts from providers apart from their ADSL provider, especially expats (since we travel, etc I’d say). Even if you did create a new email account with Telefonica, all the buttons and commands would be in Spanish, so you’d still be SOL no? 😊

What about getting hotmail/yahoo or a gmail account? You could also try http://www.godaddy.com for their premium email services. The good thing is that you’ll be able to keep your email address if you ever leave Telefonica.

Hope that helps.

Hi Expatriator,

Thank you for your advise. I am happy with “Telefonica” (so far) and have no problems with them.
it is just that my Spanish is inadequte to cope with the instructions. And when you ask them on the phone they speak “muy rapido!”

Trouble is it looks so simple! I go to Telefonica net. then go to control panel, sign in, and then go to
“creacion y gestion de cuentas de correo!

Pretty straightforward huh!  I am then presented with a choice of modify or create!
No matter how I fill the boxes in I keep doing something wrong!

Why do I want to sort it? Cos it is a problem that needs sorting and I can also help other expats who may meet the same problem.
Once again, thanks for reading and I WILL get it resolved one way or another.

Hey Mike,

I hear ya. A week ago or so I tried to log into my Telefonica account that they say I have (I think I was trying to upgrade our speed), but the provided login/password just won’t work. I tried about a million times and I’m not an idiot about these things either. I also tried to login to our router to change the blocked ports settings and the extra security filter they automatically install, but again the provided username/password didn’t work. The user/pass I tried was: adslppp@telefonicanetpa/adslppp which looks like a pretty generic one. Is that what you have too?

You might pretend to be a customer of telefonicainenglish.com’s and see if they’ll help you out 😉

Humph, just tried that and it didn’t work. Thanks anyway.

If I hear anything about the email accounts I’ll let you know, no problem.

Have a good one.
